Julien Labrousse, young owner of the famous Hôtel du Nord and Thomas Langman, famous as well, but as a movie producer, just opened an Italian club-restaurant: bar and reception room on the ground floor, living room and smoke room upstairs, along with a music studio. Endowed with comfortable black-leather-upholstered armchairs, burgundy velvet couches and lavish rugs on the dark hardwood floor, the place is wholly decorated with antiques, like a peculiar grandfather clock from the fifties and a big stuffed hawk prominently sitting in the middle of the room. The soft lighting adds the final touch to that old spot of Les Halles---the former wholesale food market of Paris---exuding a perfume of nostalgia. Apparently the trendy, young clientele already likes the concept and seems to also fancy the cuisine of the chef: last minute gazpacho, hot pepper biscuit; eggplant, tomato, basil and mozzarella linguine, Milanese mini chops, aromatic salads. Menu €40.
