La Frégate Description:
The location is fabulous, so is the history. La Frégate is on the left bank of the Seine, facing the southwest wing of the Louvre museum on the other side of the Pont Royal; it is also close to the Musée d'Orsay and at the tip of the Latin Quarter. A stroll in this historic area may lead you by this inviting brasserie. A nod to history: This precise location was that of the mansion of the real Marshal d'Artagnan who inspired the famous novel, The Three Musketeers. No surprise: In its traditional brasserie décor, La Frégate serves, almost nonstop, a traditional brasserie fare such as soupe à l'oignon, duck foie gras, sole meunière and escargots. They also offer a classically structured prix-fixe at €29,90, comprising onion soup or marinated herring, peppered steak flambé, veal blanquette à l'ancienne (traditional white sauce) or pan-cooked sea perch. To finish: apple pie, crème brûlée or chocolate mousse, house-prepared.
