Lago's Description:
In the "new town" of Baldwin Park and kicking up Orlando's dining scene, this chic dining room would be at home on South Beach or in New York City. A beautiful open kitchen, lakeside seating, a cool bar and lounge: Lago looks the part, but the food and service still need a little work. But choose carefully and you'll be satisfied. For starters, the winner is a light, crisp calamari with a lemon-caper rémoulade. Skip the pastas; gnocchi with pork ragù was heavy and in need of a dash of salt. (And there is no salt or pepper on the table.) For a main course, try the rib-eye with Gorgonzola cheese and basil fries or the seared snapper with arugula, shrimp, crab, kalamata olives, pine nuts, capers, roasted garlic, tomato and olive oil. The beautiful, upscale dining room is quiet enough for conversation, with tables of well-dressed Baldwin Park families and stylish couples throughout.
