The Wave Description:
More an upscale coffee shop than chic restaurant, The Wave aims to introduce Disney guests to more healthful cuisine: less fried food, whole-wheat pastas, sustainable seafood, organic coffees. Choose carefully and you won't be disappointed. For breakfast, you could order a Pomegranate Splash with vodka, but the healthier choice is a Beta Berry Smoothie with raspberries, nonfat yogurt, peach, mango, honey, antioxidant vitamins and beta-carotene. For lunch or dinner, skip the lump crab cakes and lettuce wraps (both appetizers) and order an arugula-watermelon salad to start. For entrées, go for the sustainable seafood, perhaps pan-seared cod, served with fresh edamame, corn and cilantro chutney. The braised lamb shank is a filling choice, as is the grilled beef tenderloin with oven-dried tomatoes, roasted potatoes, Cabernet sauce and local greens. An inordinate amount of the menu is devoted to drinks---specialty cocktails, organic beers, and coffees and teas. It's worth saving room for the mini desserts. The wine list has a twist, all screw caps, probably the first restaurant to go out on that limb, focusing on bright-style new-world wines from the Southern Hemisphere.
