Roxy Diner Description:
The New "Roxy Diner" which was formerly known as "The Bridge/Lakeview Restaurant" has taken on a few major changes.
Although it is under the same ownership during it's current 'rejuvenation', some new ideas include a future billiards hall in the space next door (which used to be the Roxy Theatre way back when)...hence the new name! The billiards room is accessible via the main restaurant or the separate bar area.
Menu includes typical restaurant/bar offerings, fish (including fresh Lake Erie perch) and steak dinners, soups and specialty sandwiches, and breakfast only on weekends, when they open as early as seven a.m.
There is also a smallish licenced patio out front with rim counters where you can sit 'al fresco', eat, drink and watch the operation of the only lift bridge in this part of the world (circa 1939), and quaint sailboat and pedestrian traffic as well. There is a small municipal parkette in front of the patio, before the street.
The inner decor includes several booths for that 'special date', as well as open-table seating in the main lounge. The Roxy has proven to handle large crowds as well, service wise, but its kitchen can get overwhelmed, so be patient if that appears.
Almost every table has a magnificent view of the harbour in all its' splendor! Many of the films that might have been projected back in the Roxy days are depicted in marquis posters throughout the restaurant, but the relationship between the name and the reason for the decor are scant.
Parking is limited out front, but there's a fair sized municipal lot just around the corner on Col. Bostwick Street, free of charge.
