Though the menu offers Tex-Mex favorites for those who enjoy predictability, it also holds plenty of creative specials and appetizers. The sweet-hot dipping sauce made of an intriguing combination of mango and habanero that accompanies lightly battered coconut shrimp keeps you coming back for more. 1492 Queso is served over beef and refried beans with sour cream and guacamole, an appetizer generous enough to share. A combination of pineapple, lime and other ingredients marinate a pork special for 24 hours before it is stuffed with guava and prunes and roasted; fried plantains and coconut rice with black beans finish the plate.
