Cowboy Food and Drink Description:
At this all-American homage to the Old West, you'll find a polished concrete floor, corrugated-tin faux porch roofs and strings of Christmas lights---not to mention fine tequilas and plenty of icy brews. Accordingly, food is not fancy, but it is satisfying. The menu is divided into categories like "South of the Border," "big bad burgers" and "things you rope and don't." You'll find fish tacos and a cowgirl burrito with Tex-Mex rice, fresh guacamole, pico de gallo, onions, peppers, sour cream and cheddar-jack cheese. But we happen to like the Diablo burger, which is rubbed with Cajun seasoning and topped with pepper jack cheese and ancho mayo. Needless to say, the barbecue is really where it's at: everything is rubbed with a secret spice blend and slow-smoked for up to 15 hours in a Southern Pride smoker using local hardwoods. During fine weather, Cowboy's patio gets rockin' with its own bar and a dedicated clientele; the indoor bar features live bands on weekend nights.

Review :
Last night I decided to dine at Cowboy for the first time ever. My family has been there several times and has always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. I happen to be gluten intolerant, but I eat out at restaurants very frequently. I have never been to a restaurant where I haven't found something to eat or where a server, cook or manager have not been able to accommodate my needs in some way. I ordered a drink and then informed our waitress that I was gluten-intolerant and that I needed to be aware of the ingredients in my food. She said it would be helpful if I could just tell her what I wanted off the menu so that they could look up the ingredients (which was a very reasonable request).
Once the waitress had my order she talked to the chef and when she returned her response was that they couldn't guarantee that anything was gluten-free because of cross-contamination, so they couldn't tell me the ingredients of any dish because of liability issues. I just wanted to know what was in the barbeque sauce and rub, but again they refused to tell me.
She didn't protest when we got up to leave nor did she offer to let us speak to a manager. We left and I can tell you that my family will probably never go back to Cowboy again with or without me. I was honestly hurt and even felt like I was going to cry as we left the restaurant.
Celiac disease, which causes my gluten-intolerance, is really hard to have and causes me a lot of problems. It's a genetic disorder that I obviously didn't choose to have. I know that I'm not always the easiest costumer for a restaurant because I ask a lot of questions and put in special orders, but I never thought that I would be turned down from eating at a restaurant because they feared that my disease would cause them problems.
