Shuhei Restaurant of Japan Description:
Tucked into the lower level of a small office building---and therefore, somewhat challenging to find---the small, tastefully decorated space boasts blond wood tables, Japanese art and artifacts and servers clad in Japanese garb. More than 50 varieties of sushi include such delicacies as eel and cucumber, grilled smoked salmon and sesame seeds, tempura shrimp and avocado and crab with flying fish roe, plum paste and oba leaf. The double-size (eight slice) rainbow roll includes tuna, whitefish, smoked salmon, yellowtail and shrimp. Appetizers run to frogs' legs sautéed with hot peppers, garlic and saké as well as seasoned hijiki seaweed simmered with tofu and carrots. You'll find many terrific renditions of Japanese favorites among entrées, plus adapted dishes like marinated, grilled lamb chops, roast duck with plum wine sauce and roasted and grilled, garlic-marinated steak. Service is professional, unfailingly polite and helpful.
