Diamond Jim Brady's Bistro Description:
In a tavern-like setting, chef Mary Brady prepares surprisingly upscale dishes in addition to the topnotch burgers and chili that put this place on the map when the original Diamond Jim opened a modest spot in Detroit 45 years ago. When son Tom---an executive chef in his own right---and his wife took over and moved the eatery to Novi, the menu expanded to include seasonal selections and dishes such as sautéed soft-shell crab with black bean cakes, mango relish and red pepper cream and poached halibut with red-skin potatoes and braised shallots. Specials are available, mostly on weekends, and include both a suggested brew and wine from the ample lists. The couple's love of travel influences the menu, which features touches of the Mediterranean and Far East.
