If you're looking for food with a view, look no further. Troy's River Street Café, which makes its home in an old water pump house, is just a hop, skip and a jump from Albany and has a great view of the marina and the passing river. The menu changes seasonally and features contemporary cuisine with light Asian-Mediterranean touches. Appetizers may include chickpea and spinach bread pudding and the Singapore chicken satay (served with a peanut dipping sauce and peanut noodles). Grilled swordfish with olive tapenade and the cracked pepper-rubbed pork tenderloin with apples, pears and raisins in a brandy demi-glace is a main-course standout. Owner George Schroeter has been pouring on the TLC at the café for over fifteen years now, and it shows in both the menu and the wine list, which features over 20 wines by the glass and five times that number by the bottle.
