First Night® New York City 2001 is a five-borough, family-oriented, non-alcoholic celebration featuring everything from music and dancing to food and fireworks on December 31, 2000.
The New Years Eve First Night® celebration in Queens takes place in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, the site of the 1939 and 1964 Worlds Fairs. The Queens Museum of Art, Queens Theatre in the Park, and the New York Hall of Science-all located on the parks grounds - will host special programs for adults and children. Special activities at the cultural institutions include a Panorama Sound and Light Show, a film program, and historic videos commemorating New York City. The evening culminates with a grand finale fireworks countdown celebration at 11:00pm in the center of the park at the Unispere.
