Silver Swan Description:
This dockside restaurant nestled on the cusp of Centerport Harbor is home to North Shore views that are as pleasing on the eye as the food is on the palate. Start your meal with the Fried Town Dock calamari or the crispy Brooklyn mozzarella logs before moving on to the heavyweight contenders, which are split up into four sections: seafood, stockyard and chop house, poultry and veal, and specialties of the house. The shallot-thyme-crusted lamb chops are oven-roasted and basted with a roasted garlic-tomato jus. The unorthodox presentation might make you hesitant to destroy the architectural wonder on the plate in front of you, but dig in: you won't be sorry. The cardamom-dusted Long Island duck is an experience in and of itself---crispy on the outside, the meat of the fowl is enhanced with a cider-sage butter sauce. The dessert menu fails to inspire. Besides, with such a great view, the best way to end your meal is by ordering a cup of coffee and watching the sun set beyond the sound.
