Song Description:
Song, the Thai word for "two," is Park Slope's sequel to Joya, a perpetually packed Thai spot in Carroll Gardens. Here, the slim bar area opens up to a spacious, streamlined, and bustling dining room. Industrial gray dominates the color scheme, but soft lighting warms the space and eclectic dance music.
This spin-off of Joya, the successful Carroll Gardens Thai restaurant, has an identical look and feel: the dark gray walls, concrete floor, dark wood tabletops, vertical track lighting, open kitchen, DJ and back garden have materialized on Park Slope's über-trendy Fifth Avenue. Likewise, the menu of rich curries, spicy soups, tantalizing shrimp and squid dishes, and succulent salads hasn't changed either. But don't mistake unoriginality for a bad thing: this might be the best Thai in the borough. And best of all, with the exception of the nightly specials, nothing on the menu breaks the $9 barrier. The wine list is agreeably inexpensive: most of the bottles (including the usually higher-priced Ravenswood Red Zinfandel) hover around the $20 range.
