Kun Jip Description:
The low- and mid-30s around Fifth Avenue may be crammed with Korean restaurants, but this small but always-raucous eatery stands above many of the others. Maybe it is the ultra-casual service afforded all clientele. Or perhaps it's the procession of dishes that arrives before you even get what you ordered (kimchi, fish cakes, plum-laced rice, pickled radishes and fried radishes). The menu is loaded with Korean staples, of which the kimchi stew, hot enough to create a constant sweat and loaded with tender and fatty pork, is among the best. For adventurous eaters, there is plenty to get excited about, including oxtail and ox blood stew, steamed cow tongue, boiled ox knee and sliced pig's feet.
