Manganaro's Hero Boy Restaurant Description:
You call them heroes; others call them subs or grinders. Under any name, these torpedo-size monsters, overstuffed with hearty Italian cold cuts, are some of New York's best sandwiches. The environment is somewhat run-down and the roster of hot Italian dishes that fill out the menu is pretty lackluster, but the aroma of imported cheeses, fresh bread and olives is intoxicating. Sandwiches range from individual heroes to order-in-advance specialties such as the six-foot champion for up to 40 hungry people. Will you choose the chicken Parmigiana or the salami, provolone and peppers? Pastas and salads are available too. No relation to Manganaros Gourmet Foods.
