Green Kitchen Description:
A father and son have transformed the Green Kitchen by firing new color into an historic diner. Opened in 1931, this spot has a history with celebrities and claims to be the first of its kind to have a 24-hour operation in the city. The welcoming green color and large windows beckon; the laundry list of diner favorites tempts; and the visible display counter of traditional all-American desserts soothes tired housewives and late-night party-goers. The seared scallops, the Maryland crab burger and the almond-crusted tilapia prove that Nicholas Willemsen's kitchen has fine dining potential. The daily specials are served with the house salad and soup and a variety of diner classics---breakfast club sandwich, Cuban Reuben, linguini pomodoro, chicken Parmigiana---satisfy appetites round-the-clock. The chocolate mocha cake and George Papakostas's cappuccino leave you with plenty of energy, irrespective of the time of day.
