Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House Description:
excerpted from Del Frisco's own website:
Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House opened for business in the Big Apple on March 7, 2000.
The multi-level 16,000 square foot space features wrap-around 30-foot floor-to-ceiling windows. Diagonally across from Radio City Music Hall and next to Fox News Network, Del Frisco's features three levels. The main level is dominated by its "Power Bar" and the street level views of the Avenue. Perhaps the most romantic part of the restaurant is the Mezzanine with its own intimate bar and elevated views of the restaurant's spectacular interior.
In the lower level, a glass-walled area allows guests to dine in comfort in the heart of the Wine Cellar.
This Dallas import feels like a longtime New York establishment. The 450-seat interior is usually packed with suits and the staff seems to manage it all quite gracefully. The menu doesn't have very many surprises, but everything is well executed. The crab cake is more like a crab bomb; wading in lobster sauce, it is fortunately free of filler. The beef at Del Frisco's is brought in from Texas and is served nicely charred on the outside and rare within; the flavor is rich but the texture is a bit mushy. Other main dishes include Australian lobster tails, salmon, a saucy osso buco, and a hearty turtle soup. The kitchen makes an effort to jazz up regular sides of creamed spinach with bacon and some diverse seasonings. Tasty skillet potatoes are almost as thin as potato chips and topped with pan-fried onions. Asparagus or sautéed mushrooms are healthier savory options. The impressive globe-spanning wine list includes several great vintages (including from Château Latour and Château Mouton Rothschild).
