Biricchino Northern Italian Restaurant Description:
One of the best bites near Madison Square Garden, Biricchino is a neighborhood favorite and boasts its own in-house meatpacking plant that supplies restaurants around the country. Naturally, the homemade sausage is one of the biggest draws. Special sausage varieties, which change daily, are always on the menu. Other entrées and pastas are standards, though the fusilli with spicy sausage and broccoli rabe in oil and garlic, and sliced Angus sirloin steak in red wine and shallot sauce are worth considering. The interior is lit and decorated in a style that unfortunately couldn't be less flattering. True meat devotees will want to visit the attached shop next door.
