Caffè Notte Description:
The name of the restaurant is not entirely apropos. This easy-on-the-eyes venue is a hopping coffeehouse (with free wi-fi) during the day (three days per week). As the name suggests, the lights go down and wine bottles are uncorked once the sun sets. The long, narrow space, flanked by a bar and a sleek banquette and exposed brick walls, warrants ordering a second glass of vino to go with the cheese plate. The wine list, not surprisingly, is primarily Italian, and the menu is comprised of small-portioned salads, cheese and meat plates, and spreads. The roasted duck salad---accompanied by mesclun and wild mushrooms---is nicely accented with a rosé vinaigrette; the bruschetta, simply topped with tomatoes, basil and a few olives, is a refreshing lesson in restraint.
