Caffè Laguna is an intimate and surprising find in Long Beach. The centered brick oven warms the dimly lit restaurant with a glowing ambience. Plump, juicy crab cakes with jalapeño and cilantro sauce keep your fingers busy. Other starters include a variety of salads, oysters and crispy, wood-fired brick-oven pizzas. For entrées, choose from a selection of pastas, such as lobster ravioli, or tender meats, including the veal caprese with mozzarella and tomato. Signature dishes include the Chilean sea bass and filete di manzo, a grilled filet mignon with portobello mushrooms and sautéed spinach in a red wine sauce. A specialty martini list adds flavor to a standard wine selection. Slices of pie are served delightfully warm, drizzling with caramel, cherry and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
