Skipjack's Description:
A location of a small local chain of seafood restaurants. There are other locations in Natick and Boston.
A couple of decades old now, Skipjack's is still going strong. Though, like Legal Sea Foods, the local mini-chain offers a mainstream seafood experience, its sizeable menu takes a few scenic departures from the straight-and-narrow---there's ginger-fried calamari, shrimp and asparagus tossed with cavatelli, tomatoes and breadcrumbs in a lemon garlic sauce and a shellfish-filled take on the classic Cobb. A goodly selection of fish for grilling or broiling comes from as near as the Cape and as far as Hawaii. And while the wine selection is a bit oaky for our tastes, it's certainly impressive. Let's put it this way: on the occasion checklist, we'd mark "shopping breaks" yes, "romantic dates" no, "family suppers with well-behaved youngsters" yes, "family suppers with shriekers" no. Get the picture?
