Wildfish Seafood Grille Description:
Located at Newport's The Bluffs shopping center, this restaurant has an ultra-sleek interior with soaring ceilings, touches of neon blue and classic dark wood tables. Chef Arturo Briones showcases the bounty from the sea---flown in daily from all over North America---with classic French, California and Pacific Rim influences. Start at the oyster bar or with the chef's prepared-to-order sashimi tasting or with an iced seafood tower. We enjoy a citrus-based cocktail with the fresh tartare of Pacific ahi, which is prepared tableside. Wildfish's signature dish, steamed Chilean sea bass, is still a standout with its white meat swimming in a pool of sweet-and-sour soy and sherry broth, as is the Parmesan-crusted Georges Bank sole in a light lemon-and-butter sauce. There is a steak and chops menu as Wildfish's roots come from Eddie V's, a chain of Scottsdale-based steakhouses. Two or three people can easily share the huge side dishes like green beans with water chestnuts and au gratin potatoes. For dessert, try the hot pineapple upside-down cake with French-pressed coffee. The pricey wine list is adequate, but there are plenty of by-the-glass selections that won't break the bank.
