Andrea is the fine-dining restaurant at the luxe Resort at Pelican Hill. And while everything here is top-of-the-line, Andrea still has a casual feel, with golden lighting, cozy banquettes and an outdoor terrace with soaring Pacific Ocean views. Chef Stefano Chiarugi, who formerly cooked at Switch and Osteria Del Circo in Las Vegas and Le Cirque in New York, is now overseeing a more extensive contemporary Italian menu. Start with a house-made cocktail or a glass of wine from the long by-the-glass list. Then, order up a palate-opening appetizer like a seasonal soup, scallops with cauliflower purée and crispy pancetta or a refreshing salad of burrata cheese, arugula, heirloom tomatoes and Italian olive oil. Next, you can order a Napoli-style pizza, but we suggest the made-fresh pastas, like the hand-rolled spaghetti with Chianti-braised duck or Andrea's signature ravioli filled with ricotta and spinach and finished with a delicate butter and sage sauce. Mains are just as flavorful, yet light and hearty all at the same time. We recommend the veal loin in a pancetta wrap with veal jus and a traditional eggplant caponata and the pan-seared Prime beef filet with roasted cipollini onions and Barolo porcini jus. At meal's end, go for the artisanal cheese plate with fine accoutrements or the daily hand-churned ice creams and gelatos.
