Sprayberry's Barbecue Description:
The second location of Sprayberry's Barbecue. Besides pit barbecue, Sprayberry's serves steaks, chicken, seafood, burgers, hot dogs, salads, pies, and Brunswick stew.
The famous baby-back ribs, after being cooked, are held over steam, leaving the under-seasoned meat dry and flabby in texture. And the hapless boneless barbecued chicken breast is the Gobi desert on a plate. Slaw is crispy and vinegar-dressed for a special tang, and is one of the best versions of this style we have ever had. Mac 'n' cheese and Brunswick stew are just fair. But the real reason to come here is the fried pies. Made the right way with dried fruit cooked for hours with sugar until they meld into sweetness, the filling is then enfolded into pastry, sealed with the tines of a fork and fried.
