Fromagerie Restaurant Description:
Established by brothers Hubert and Markus Peter in 1972 in a spacious private home, the Fromagerie is noted for its classic French cuisine with a contemporary panache.
Chef David Burke has breathed new life into this restaurant where he began his career many years ago. Once a Culinary Institute of America extern here, Burke is now the owner of what is clearly the restaurant that possesses his heart. Burke, who gained renown at The River Café, Park Avenue Café and davidburke & donatella in New York City, has imbued this acquisition with his sense of whimsy and style. Picasso lithographs and Chagall originals adorn the walls, and there's a dessert called the cheesecake lollipop tree with bubblegum whipped cream. Try the angry lobster, a dramatic presentation of lobster seasoned with fiery chili powder and butter sauce. Although this is a high-end eatery, come on a Tuesday night and kick back with Hamburger Night---$25 buys a salad, a burger with fries and a glass of wine or beer---served at the bar, or in the upstairs dining room where a guitarist will serenade you.
