"Tre Piani" is translated as "three floors." The first boasts a large outdoor patio and an indoor bistro with a 30-foot vaulted ceiling and a room decorated with fresh plants, French doors and a full service bar. The second floor offers fine dining in a plush setting and the third is for banquets and private parties. Just note that wherever you go in Tre Piani, the food's terrific. Chef Jim Weaver has been the guru of Slow Food in New Jersey for decades, and his menu always reflects locally grown and produced foods. The menu is heavily Italian which means food whether casual or elegant is fresh and refined. The mozzarella is made on premises daily and served with tomatoes, roasted peppers and basil. Homemade Italian sausage and clams, fragrant with garlic and olive oil, arrive at the table in a terra cotta pot. An entrée standout is the veal cutlet Milanese, served with a chopped salad of radicchio, roasted peppers, tomato and mozzarella. The wine list is vast, a little on the expensive side but fairly priced, for instance, the Prunotto Dolcetto 2006 from Alba in Piedmont, Italy is $40; the Allegrini Palazzo della Torre 2005 from Veneto, Italy is $50.
