Red Square Description:
A heroic statue of Lenin greets diners at this theatrically designed casino restaurant. It's over the top, but delightfully so with a 60-foot ice bar and a frigid vodka vault kept at temperatures so low, ladies are offered fur coats and gentlemen, authentic Soviet army overcoats if they choose to enter. The restaurant walls are painted a bright red with gold accents, and there are dome shapes throughout, reminiscent of onion-topped Russian cathedrals. Red Square's menu offers caviar and fusion foods influenced by Europe, Asia and the Americas---some with clever names such as Siberian nachos made with wonton chips, smoked salmon, wasabi cream, scallions and tobiko (flying fish roe), and garnished with Citron-infused caviar. Then there's clams Kruschev---a smooth and silky gratin of baked clams sprinkled with Parmesan breadcrumbs, pancetta and American sturgeon caviar. There are some notable Russian dishes to supplement the surf 'n' turf heavy menu. The salmon kulebyaka is an appealing version of the classic Russian fish pie made here with salmon filet seasoned with dill and tucked into a flaky puff pastry along with wild mushrooms.
