Mia by Georges Perrier and Chris Scarduzio Description:
Mia is a fantasy of a Roman temple with towering pillars and a majestic vaulted ceiling, located in the busy Caesars Atlantic City atrium. Dramatic and yet surprisingly intimate within its portals, it is a fitting place to worship at the altar of fine food. A collaboration between Philadelphia chefs Georges Perrier of Le Bec-Fin and chef Chris Scarduzio, Mia serves well prepared and creatively presented food that is worth every penny of its very lofty price. Take note of a $75 pizza---a starter made to be shared, studded with foie gras and truffles. It is just a bit of whimsy on the part of the talented chefs, whose seasonal and ever-changing menus offer more serious dishes that are big on flavor and short on pretense. Count among the offerings such triumphs as black sea bass alla plancha with baby zucchini and basil vermouth foam; grilled filet mignon with Barolo wine sauce, and porcini mushrooms on polenta cake; lobster mashed potatoes; and Mediterranean-crusted yellowfin tuna with orzo and heirloom tomatoes. Such food begs for fine wine, and it is available on a wine list that will hurt your purse but satisfy your craving. Service is attentive and practiced. In addition to the main menu in the dining room, Mia offers a small-plates menu at its lively bar along with an extensive list of wines by the glass and specialty cocktails. A weak spot is the dessert menu with singularly uninspiring offerings such as a classic banana split, and Tahitian vanilla bean crème brûlée.
