You will be treated like a family friend when owner Massimo Morgia greets you with warmth and charm. The welcome continues throughout the evening in one of the most romantic dining rooms in Portsmouth. The cuisine begins in Italy, but merges with executive chef Jethro Loichle's contemporary New England style in dishes like an appetizer of chilled butter-poached Maine lobster dressed with house-made rémoulade. It is served in a light and crispy profiterole with gaufrette potatoes and cornichons. Try one of the pastas, especially the gnocchi with braised beef and black pepper, then move on to a local seafood specialty. Olive oil poached East Coast day boat halibut wrapped in leeks, served over stewed green lentils and sautéed vegetables is finished with an olive tapenade. Save room for beignets with rich melted chocolate for dipping.
