Tayst Restaurant and Wine Bar Description:
This Vanderbilt-area kitchen was Nashville's first establishment to be certified by the Green Restaurant Association, and it's still one of the city's most ecologically conscious restaurants. But that doesn't mean you'll be served Spartan vegan fare; the ever-changing menu ranges from the classics, such as grilled filet of beef, to often astounding experiments featuring local products. Each dish is paired with a wine suggestion, such as wild boar osso buco with a Croix du Mayne Malbec or trout with Mimolette cheese grits and pickled ramps matched with a Domaine St. Claire Saint-Bris Sauvignon Blanc. You can, of course, embark on your own in the food-and-wine pairing adventure, choosing from an extensive list of wines, but someone quite knowledgeable has done the thinking for you, just in case you want to relax and check this responsibility at the door. The menu changes seasonally with an intense focus on locally secured ingredients.
