Great atmosphere; trendy 5 à 7; but for dinner, food is OK and service is not at all what you would expect from such a place; all smiles but you can tell there is no directing line. Waiters are friendly but have no rythm. a shame

We decided to try out le Local for a friend's birthday dinner. We were not expecting the worst dining experience any of us had ever had. Firstly, each and every meat order was overcooked. The beef was miniscule, but if it had been cooked properly and tasty, the size wouldn't have mattered. Secondly, we ordered a piece of bday cake for the birthday girl. It was just plopped in front of her plate with no warning of it's arrival (we had wanted to sing!) but also no warning that they were out of candles (would have been nice). Not the worst part. The bills werent arriving at our table..we had been there for over 3.5 hours and had finished eating. We were left unattended. So, we took it upon ourselves to go up to pay. The waiter had no idea whose bill was whose, and asked us which seat number we were in. WHAT? no clue our seats were numbered. Then...we noticed he hadnt split the wine (as asked) amongst our bills. I personally had all the wine on my bill. Annoying, and ridiculous.
This restaurant really screwed themselves over because we are a group of people who not only return to great restaurants OFTEN, but we have big mouths and will spread our bad service story to the rest of montreal. It's a shame, because the atmosphere and the vibe is great otherwise. Time to get serious about service.

Terrace is very pleasant in the summer, good wine by the glass and interesting main courses. Simply good for a light lunch or dinner or a full course meal.

My business deals with people from Toronto, Ottawa, Chicoutimi, Quebec City, Boston and New York.

Le Local staff are very professional and very well organised.

When i have a vital business supper, Le Local is the place for me!!!!

Great place also for two,some of my business partners from out of town (Quebec City and Ottawa)will come to Montreal simply for supper at Le Local.

For me this is an asset for my succes in business.

Review :
I visited this retaurant after it came highly recommended, however, I was deeply dissapointed. While the food and wine were decent the service was terrible at best. It took 30 mins for a waiter to come to our table and another 15 mins for him to bring us the wine menu which was not given with the food menus from the start. It took another 45 mins just to get our appetizers and never once did our waiter come and fill our wine glasses. In addition, we were only offered bread at the end of our main course! at that point why even offer? After the main course I had to get up and ask a different waiter for teh dessert menu, at which point I was extremely unsatisfied. While the atmosphere is great and the food half decent, the wwhole experience was ruined with the poor service. For a restaurant that charges these prices the service should be impeccable. Hopefully they will figure things out fast before it is too late. Shame on you Le Local!

This unique restaurant is hidden on William Street in Old Montreal. Just a block away from the St.Paul Hotel.
Concept is food on main floor with great bar and lounging area.
Second floor boasts an Art Gallery and lounging area. Third floor is for private events and parties. To top it off there is a terrace in the front that is small but cozy under a canopy.
Food and service is amazing and the wine by the glass or bottle are great.
