Bond Lounge Grill Description:
Directly inspired by Ian Fleming's dashing super-spy James Bond, the restaurant's owners have quite wisely limited the influence to the décor and part of the martini menu. There are two menus: a tapas or entrée menu that is served until closing (either 1 a.m. or 3 a.m.), with light, varied plates like ceviche, curried shrimp or mini burgers. The main course or supper menu is much smaller, offering only four choices: an exotic salad, salmon on a bed of rice served with salad, Portuguese chicken with french fries, and bavette a l'ail (a garlicky skirt steak) with french fries. Overall the menu is a little disjointed and doesn't really reflect the mood that the restaurant wants to project. On the positive side, the food is quite good. The ceviche, artfully presented, covered with finely minced tomato with thinly sliced mango on the side, boasts clean flavors and nice textures and just enough of a citrus bite to awaken the palate. The bavette, a cut of meat that can be stringy and tough, is cooked to a tender state. The spicing and the marinade elevate the dish to something above regular bistro fare. Service is friendly.
