Review :
Having been to the other great steakhouse hangouts, Moishes and Gibbys, on several occasions, I must say that the Rib n Reef is better, plain and simple. The atmosphere is much more comfortable, from a more seemingly formal dining area to more comfortable seating, including the feeling that things were just newer and cleaner (especially compared to Gibbys).

The service professionals were career waiters, as you would find at Moishe's, but way better than the Gibbys staff.

The restaurant was definitely not very cheap, but they are basically all the same price, so if you are choosing amongst them, Choose Rib n Reef. 'cept if you want Bazooka Joe bubble gum (worth $0.20) at then end of your meal or sorbet between courses, then you can choose Moishe's and Gibby;s respectively! ha!

Review :
The location of the Rib N Reef speaks for itself of how long it's been around. When Decarie was the real hub and night life of Montreal. This place has stood the test of time with a fairly recent renovation to help compete against the newer steakhouses like Queue de Cheval downtown. This has to be one of the most expensive restaurants in Montreal though, so you'd better be prepared to spend a good part of your paycheck. The food is top notch though with outstanding service that will leave you satisfied that your money was spent well. Any date that takes me here is sure to get something in return... Rib N Reef is all about surf and turf, and they turn out one of the best in the city. Ambience is nice, with dim lighting and a slight Mafioso flair if you're into that sort of thing. Overall it's highly recommended for anyone whether you're downtown or not.
