My first dish was very fair (antipasta with pre-cooked sausage, cantaloup that had time to dry, cold cuts that had been in the dis for a while), my main pasta dish with shrimps had no taste, no garlic taste, not spicy, no salt...I just returned the dish (did not ask for any substitute). At the end the waitress complained about my tip saying I had only left about 13%, (she should find herself lucky that I did leave a tip even if I was not satisfied. A tip is a voluntary additional payment made for services rendered NOT AN OBLIGATION). The restaurant should put more care in the quality than in the quantity.

Recently a group of us (app. 20) went to this restaurant to celebrate a few birthdays. We had reservations for 8pm. We got our table, our wine was uncorked, we were brought bread, and, for those of us who had ordered the first course, same was brought within acceptable time limits, albeit on the late side. And then the fun started. At 10:45pm we were told that the main course will take another hour. Some of us were even asked, at this point, to pay for the meal. A number of us left. Wise decision, as matters went from bad to worse. When we were finally served the main course, the plates were (of course) completely mixed up and some of the veal....raw. After we finished eating, the bills were brought immediately, notwithstanding the fact that coffee and dessert (included in the table d'hôte) had not been served. They did serve us the extra cake that we had brought in, but were very reluctant to serve us the dessert (and coffee) that came with the meal. We insisted and were finally served. As we were preparing to pay the bill, the waitress decided to share some of her wisdom with us and declared: "May I give you some advice? Next time you're such a big group, you should go somewhere else". Of course, throughout this fiasco of an evening, the owner never came out to apologize, to bring us some bruschetta, to crack a few jokes with us, etc, etc, - ie. to calm us down. It became obvious that we were completely dispensable to him. We had been to this restaurant several times before and had noticed a drop in the quality of the service, but this time it was completely off the charts. Yes, there was still a large line-up outside and the place was packed. I sincerely hope this changes in the future, as more and more patrons realize just how unimportant their patronage is to the owner. Shame on him!

After long delays in being seated and getting served (more than 3 hours to get our main meals), being insulted by an incompetent waitress and having an owner / manager who refused to come to our table to apolozige and deal with the very many problems, I will never return to what was once one of my favourite restaurants. Why settle for average food and no service whatsoever, combined with increased menu prices, especially in these times of a recession? There are plenty of quality restaurants in Montreal serving great food where the management and staff know what quality service menas and that welcome our business. Il Piatto Pieno does not deserve our business and our hard earned dollars.

Piatto Pieno has quickly become our family's favorite place to celebrate. Birthdays, anniversaries, office parties or just a great dinner before or after a show! We love it and are always surprised with the portions. It's great not having to cook the next day! If you haven't already tried it, put dinner at Piatto Pieno on your list of things to do. Be sure to reserve!
