Finnegan & Bacchus Bar Description:
Located directly below Wanda's, a popular gentleman's club, Finnegan & Bacchus seems to be a place that isn't quite sure of its own identity. Several tables with a turn-of-the-century café motif, hugging the windows around a long central bar, leave one wondering if the place is a tavern or a Spartan bistro. Don't be surprised to find one person acting as the bartender, waitress and busser. The menu is quite brief and lists a few predictable selections, many of which involve chicken. Other simple dishes such as steaks, pastas and ribs round out the bill of fare. The soup du jour, a thin vegetable potage not thoroughly blended, has decent flavor and the ribs are worth a try. Prices are hardly exorbitant, but the distinct impression is that the place is trying to present well-prepared bar grub as fine dining. Still, the food is acceptable despite the lack of ambience.
