Cafe Il Cortile Description:
Hidden between the trendy shops on Rue Sherbrooke West, Il Cortile offers an inviting break from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. Large hanging flower arrangements, walls lined with wine bottles, sumptuous parlor furniture, and classical opera playing quietly in the background create an almost otherworldly atmosphere. The menu is a small but complete table d'hôte and the wine list is impressive with privately imported selections. Courteous and knowledgeable service matches the carefully prepared food served in generous portions. High quality ingredients are standard here, exemplified by the prosciutto, beautifully marbled and lushly soft to the palate and served with thinly shaved Parmesan. Another treasure is the angel hair pasta with delicately textured salmon and basil in a cream sauce. The tiramisu involves cream tasting as if it had been whipped just moments before its arrival at the table.

Very accomodating restaurant with great food and pleasant staff.
Charming, spot in which to dine year round. The restaurant's terrace, from which Il Cortile gets its name is ideal for dining in the open on a pleasant, spring, summer or fall day.

Our first visit to Il Cortile was in the summer. I was amazed to find such a beautiful, flower filled terrace hidden away between these buildings. We had a wonderful time. The food was excellent, the service was attentive and the ambiance was incredible. We tell all our friends to go and they've all thanked us for the referal. We've been many times since and have always left very happy. It's a great way to spend an evening...and a great place to spot a celebrity or a hockey player.

In summer you really feel like you are in Italy. Great courtyard terrace with flowers everywhere. It is more about the atmosphere than the food. Winter months there are a few table inside.

I was invited to Il Cortile by a friend of my wife's and was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is a little hidden behind buildings, but well worth the discovery. The service was excellent and friendly, the food superb. The atmosphere was romantic since the restaurant was small and cozy. We had a delicious risotto with safran, spinach and scampi with an equally superb wine. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends and return often.
