Restaurant Buona Notte Description:
Within a three-block stretch there are close to a dozen hip restaurants where the beautiful people meet to eat and dance the night away. Buona Notte is one of the oldest of these, well entrenched in Montreal's scene. The walls are lined with some 500 plates painted and signed by visiting movie stars and celebrities. The food may not be the main draw, yet it is a pleasant surprise in its simplicity. Patrons begin with extra-virgin olive oil with fresh breads. The reworked menu is distinctly home cooking-oriented and includes traditional Italian fare inspired by family traditions: wild sea bass with a Mediterranean mix, a pleasing rack of lamb with eggplant terrine or an assortment of pizzas and pasta. The wine list includes more than 400 choices and a strong concentration of Italian wines. This is the place to shine in the spotlight of Montreal nightlife, and on a weekend you may well meet a hockey player, celebrity or other colorful characters.
