Located on the Transcanadienne Autoroute, 40 Westt Steakhouse is not an unfamiliar name to the locals. Just minutes from the airport, travelers and airborne flight escapees flock to this establishment for steak. Corn-fed and then dry-aged in optimum temperatures, the restaurant offers an array of cuts from its very own brand of Ontarian beef: the Belvedere Brand label. This opulently decorated establishment aims to please not just the white collars but also the trendy. Its romantic and dramatic interiors are replete with dangling chandeliers, wall hangings and meat displays. The wine list is impressive with selections from Australia, California, Italy, France, Greece and Portugal, chosen to pair well with the menu offerings. The table d'hôte menu is a worthy option for anyone unsure of where to begin. Among the offerings are a 20-ounce cowboy steak and Asian beef spring rolls. The à la carte menu is impressive, especially for its combination plates such as filet mignon served with tiger shrimp, Icelandic scampi, lobster tail or the filet mignon brûlé with goat cheese or Brie, lump crab meat with mornay sauce and foie gras.
