Seafood Village (aka Bei Fung Tong) Description:
Screaming is the lingua franca in this compact, crowded place. Chaozhou seafood cuisine is served here — in the ancestral style from China before many of the people immigrated to Southeast Asia. Chaozhou seafood is the current fad among seafood houses in the San Gabriel Valley. Seafood Village's house specials include a deep-fried crab covered with a sauce of fried minced garlic, chile and scallions. Another specialty is the Chaozhou-style Fish, served with light broth flavored with preserved mustard greens on a tabletop stove. The flavors are lighter than what you find in Hong Kong seafood houses, but the flavors are more complex through the use of larger combinations of ingredients.
