Dreamland Bar-B-Que Description:
Festooned with banners from major Southern universities' athletic teams, this unit of the vaunted 'cue joint isn't quite as "no-frills" as the original Tuscaloosa rib lover's haven. But the same crowd that rides up to Tuscaloosa in their fancy cars will enjoy the sports bar vibe this place has. Still taking 'cue seriously, however, the place slowly smokes its meats over a pile of wood, tended to by a practiced pit-master who sprays the bundle from time to time to keep the fire under control and create the flavor-enhancing smoke. The ribs were a bit too firm to the bite in our view, but still tasty. The sausage, however, is first-rate; wrap a few slices in the soft white bread that's a de rigueur accompaniment, dip it into the very good barbecue sauce, and savor heaven. Wings can be served with ranch or blue cheese dipping sauce. The availability of beer makes the 'cue even tastier, and pecan pie or banana puddin' for dessert sweetens the deal.
