Imo's Pizza Description:
Imo's epitomizes the local style of pizza. Many of the chain's locations are take-out only (including one just to the east on Olive); those that do allow sit-down seating offer almost nonexistent décor. But no one comes for the ambience. St. Louis-style pizza causes no ambivalence---it's either loved or hated. Key components are a cracker-thin crust, square pieces, a sweet-tangy tomato sauce and gobs of Provel cheese (a gooey, tooth-sticking combination of cheddar, Swiss and provolone that's unique to St. Louis). House salads, festooned with more of the same cheese, are simple but not bad, except for the sweet house dressing. Provel also features heavily in the pastas and sandwiches, and it does melt nicely over salsiccia.
