India Palace Description:
High atop a hotel, with a setting that suggests Polynesia, sits India Palace. Business luncheons and all-you-can-eat buffet lovers keep things hopping during the day, but the ambience is considerably different in the evening. The view improves when the nearby Boeing plant and suburban sprawl are reduced to sparkly lights and center stage is devoted to an almost-constant stream of arrivals on the runways at Lambert Airport. The staff may recommend chicken soup with tandoori chicken in it. Samosas are quite heavy; pakoras, a sort of fritter, are preferable. Tandoori lovers will smile at seekh kebabs of spicy lamb, as well as other options of fish, prawns and chicken; the truly adventurous will sometimes even find goat, which, we are assured---correctly, too---is a superior meat for the super-hot oven. Raita here is so good one is tempted to eat it like soup. Try the rasmalai for dessert, mild, faintly sour cheese patties that come drenched in a thickened milk sauce and sprinkled with pistachios, a wonderfully cool and soothing finale after the happy barrage of curries.
