Umami Moto Description:
Sleek and stylish defines not only the interior space (white-leather seating; flat, black stones inlaid into walls and columns; shimmery jade-green and gold accents throughout), but the menu, too, from maki appetizers to cocktails. Expect not only a lot of saké but also modern interpretations of saké, where Japan's national drink is fused with other ingredients and fruits, like in the Sake Tini (plum saké, sour, white cranberry and clementine-flavored vodka). But it's hardly all about the bar, thanks to chef Dominic Zumpano. One bite of the Kobe sliders or tuna poke, and you'll understand why. One visit might reveal a salad with Dijon sorbet dressing, and another, sushi with offbeat ingredients like jícama, Thai basil or truffle oil. Entrées are meat- and fish-heavy; rib-eye with sweet chili hollandaise is a winner. But save room for the homemade, chocolate-filled donuts or the house sorbets. Open until midnight, the staff rolls out an abbreviated late-night menu at 11 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
