Mountain House Grill Description:
Before the Mountain House Grill came along, the only dining options in Midway were old-fashioned fast-food joints and elegant restaurants. Now, everyone from toddlers to grandparents flock to this countrified eatery to enjoy tasty, filling lunches and dinners. While you wait for your food, satisfy your thirst with a big glass of lemonade---original or flavored with peaches, raspberries or strawberries. Then move on to the homemade buttermilk biscuits with honey butter, coconut shrimp and big salads. In addition to the usual main-course suspects like filet mignon, fresh halibut, burgers and St. Louis-style barbecued ribs, we like the thick sandwiches and wood-fired pizzas. Well-executed pastas include one featuring andouille sausage, grilled chicken and Gulf shrimp in a spicy Cajun tomato sauce. Desserts like the chocolate crock (molten chocolate cake) and apple crisp remind you of the down-home cooking you wish you'd had as a kid.
