Fiamma Grill Description:
Sister to Compari's Italian Restaurant next door, this iteration from the Yaquinto family draws on its relative for a smattering of Italian dishes. However, the emphasis here is on steaks and seafood. Choose from numerous appetizers or two soups, one of which is always creamy shrimp bisque; another option may be an interesting fruit gazpacho. Among salads, go for the classic Caesar or the namesake Compari salad: romaine sprinkled with blue cheese, pine nuts and house dressing. Tops on the steak side is the 22-ounce porterhouse, but more realistic appetites may choose the 14-ounce strip steak or lamb chops. When it comes to seafood, there's sashimi-grade ahi, seared rare with a seven-pepper rub and plated with balsamic-soy reduction, cucumber wasabi and a risotto cake. Another winning dish is the pork tenderloin medallions, sautéed with green peppercorns, cremini mushrooms and crème fraîche and served with garlic mashed potatoes. Pasta Fiamma is among the many carb-packed selections. It's fun to sit outdoors and watch passersby, but downtown motorcycle traffic can get a bit loud. It's also loud inside, however. "Fiamma" in Italian is "bright flame," and Fiamma---the restaurant---is one of Plymouth's brightest. Come on Wednesdays, when half-price oysters and select Champagne is offered.
