Captain's Tavern Description:
Bill the Captain Bowers and his wife Audrey still operate this landmark. Don't be fooled by the kitschy dining room with its faux nautical theme---this is a fine seafood restaurant. Most any fish you might imagine is available on the five-page menu, all sterling fresh and cooked in innumerable ways. Best bets include creamy, clam-chocked clam chowder; golden-fried soft shell crabs and conch fritters; and Jamaican-style yellowtail. Bowers is famous for offering the city's best wine deals; there's a mind-boggling 500 selections, mainly from California. There are no reservations accepted and lots and lots of local Captain loyalists so prepare to wait in line.
