River Oaks continues to dazzle with lavish décor (the handiwork of Memphis-born New York designer Nancy Mah). Custom mahogany and stained-glass furnishings, lively artwork, and beautiful lighting create a modern yet warm ambience. The restaurant is not just a pretty face, thanks to the French-American menu of chef Benjamin Vaughn. Vaughn's dishes include items such as pan-roasted bone-in rib-eye with Gorgonzola Vidalia onions, crab-crusted Florida grouper with vanilla bean beurre blanc, and tempura fried green tomato millefeuille. Given River Oaks' looks, food, good service, and attention to detail, it's no surprise that it has become a favorite close-the-deal spot for executives and a destination for East Memphis residents. Its wine list has more than 300 bottles and 75 wines by the glass.
