Arcade Restaurant Description:
In the past ten years, the South Main Arts District has gone from a seedy area to a hip neighborhood of upscale art galleries and trendy boutiques. But one place never changed. The Arcade restaurant, believed to be the city's oldest restaurant, has remained in the same location for more than 80 years. The nifty 1950s retro breakfast-and-lunch joint serves up diner fare and pizzas, as well as hearty Southern breakfasts. For a true taste of Memphis, sample The Arcade's fried peanut butter and banana sandwich, a favorite meal of Elvis Presley. Other favorites include the Downtowner pizza (garlic, ricotta and mozzarella, tomatoes, pesto, artichoke hearts, red onions and black olives) and Ms. Polly's Greek Lover (pesto, walnuts, sun-dried tomatoes and goat cheese).
