This noisy little bistro is as casual as can be, with its open kitchen, elbow-to-elbow tables and few decorative frills. Café 1912 features no-nonsense French cooking with dishes that include steamed mussels in white wine and roast chicken with tarragon. Its wine list is small but offers plenty of drinkable choices at the same bargain price: $5 for a glass, $20 for a bottle. Sunday brunch is one of the best in Midtown.
