Neely's Bar-B-Que Restaurant Description:
Pat and Gina Neely, stars of the Food Network's "Down Home with the Neelys" cooking show, learned the 'cue trade from Pat's uncle Jim Neely (a.k.a. the Godfather of Memphis Barbecue). Long before the couple's mastery of pork ribs landed them a national TV show, they gained a loyal base of Memphis barbecue fans. That's thanks to their menu of beef and pork ribs, served wet (with sauce) or dry (rubbed with dry spices), hot wings, sandwiches and barbecue spaghetti. The restaurant, a bright yellow building just east of downtown, may look like nothing special on the inside---dark wood, booths, family memorabilia---but in fact is probably the nicest barbecue joint in town. The take-out window at the back of the restaurant does a brisk business.
